We had the opportunity to attend the AHS conference last year and it was life changing for my whole family. My sister’s oldest daughter had recently been diagnosed with autism. We invited her daughter and their entire family to attend the conference. This was the first time they had ever attended anything like this before, and it changed their life. They finally heard real science, facts, and listened to experts make sense of what they’ve experienced their whole life. To this day, my niece still talks about the conference because it helped her (19 years old) to understand and process her own life experience. For the first time, she felt she belonged to a larger family and tribe that gets her. My sister walked away with resources, support, and knowledge to propel them into the rest of the year with solutions. It truly changed their life, brought new perspectives, and equipped them to face their challenges, now with a community of support.
